Welcome to Mayshade Garden Centre - the family-run gardening and landscaping supplies centre. 

Three generations of the Darling family have helped to build this thriving business and dedicated gardening and landscaping supplies establishment.

Robert Darling originally founded 'Robert Darling & Sons' as an agricultural contracting firm, more than 50 years ago. The company later moved its focus towards public works(i.e. environmental improvements) and landscaping - attracting many trades and delivering a wide range of building products such as slabs, aggregates and timber.

At that time, the Bonnyrigg site was simply used to stock materials for the firm. However, it soon became clear that passers-by were also interested in buying these materials, and the business gradually expanded to accommodate a broader customer base.

The garden centre has been in existence for over 30 years and continues to move with the times. Following the stylish re-development of the site in 2002 the garden centre has continued to evolve and maintain its four star rating from Visit Scotland.

While the contracting side of the business has moved to other premises, the new-look centre has proved a real hit with local people and visitors alike. Bright and airy, the thoughtfully planned, all-weather environment allows plenty of space for an ever-increasing range of products including plants, fencing, garden sheds, sand & aggregates and edging.       


     

The Orchard Cafe was one of the finalists at the annual Garden Retail Awards 2009. Congratulations to the staff on a great achievement from such strong competition.
